Gymnastics for Kids: 1st Grade and Up
GymStars Program: Girls 1st Grade and Up
GymStars classes are for girls in 1st grade and older and is based on Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. They will learn skill on the four Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Events: Vault, Uneven Parallel Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. (Boys participate in our Trampoline & Tumbling classes.) Gymnastics is an unsurpassed children’s activity for building fitness as well as teaching essential life skills. Our developmental class program is non-competitive and the pace is individual. Gymnastics is an individual sport, and each child will progress at her own rate. Older students generally progress more quickly than younger students due to their natural maturity and ability to understand and follow instructions quickly.
- GymStar 1— Entry Level Classes. Classes are 65 minutes long. Class will start with a 15 minute warm-up. They then will rotate through three events, 15 minutes each. Rotations will include the Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Events: Vault, Uneven Parallel Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Additionally gymnasts will train trampoline, tumble trak and use the foam pit. They will end class with a 5 minute closing consisting of final stretch, strength activity, or final skills focus.
- GymStar 2 — Classes are 80 minutes long. These classes are by teacher recommendation only. Class will start with a 15 minute warm-up. They will have two 15 minutes event rotations and a 30 minute floor rotations and end with a 5 minute closing.
- GymStar 3 — Classes are 90 minutes long. These classes are by teacher recommendation only. Class will start with a 15 minute warm-up then have 10 minutes of strength. They will then have two 15 minute rotations (areas will include vault, bars, beam, trampoline, tumble trak and foam pit), and one 30 minute floor rotation. They have the longer floor rotation because tumbling and dance are the basis for all of the events. Class will come to a close with a 5 minute “treat activity”, contest or skill focus.
Most students attend class once per week. However, we do provide discounts for attending more than one class per week and for multiple children in one family. Please see our Prices & Policies Booklet Summer 2017 for details.

Trampoline and Tumbling: Boys and Girls 1st Grade and Up
Trampoline and Tumbling has seen a steady growth in popularity since the inclusion of trampoline as an Olympic sport in the 2000 Olympic Games.
Trampoline and Power Tumbling is a sport open to everyone. Body type and size are not nearly as important in trampoline and tumbling as in gymnastics. People of all ages and body types are capable of performing on an equal level, even competitively, thanks to the unique spring devices used at Trampoline and Tumbling events.
The movement skills and the kinesthetic awareness (“air sense”) acquired in Trampoline and Tumbling transfer perfectly to other sports such as diving, cheerleading, acro-skiing, jump roping, sport parachuting, snowboarding, and martial arts.
Airborne Gymnastics in Longmont, CO, offers a variety of skill leveled classes as well as a competitive Trampoline & Tumbling Team. The competitive team is by invitation only. If your student feels this is something they might be interested in pursuing please have them talk to their instructor.
Trampoline and Tumbling Class Information
Trampoline & Tumbling classes are for students in first grade and older, and are divided by ability, not by age. We start each T&T class with 15 minutes of general fitness activities, which includes 5 minutes of cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and muscular endurance activities followed by 10 minutes of stretching and flexibility. After this warm-up, athletes will learn and practice a variety of skills on various types of trampolines and the spring floor. The skills and equipment used will vary from week to week. Class ends with 5 minutes of strength work or drills for skills.
T&T Level 1 classes are 65 minutes long and are the entry level for our T&T classes. Basic skills are mastered on tumbling and trampoline. Students work on rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and bridges on floor; basic jumps, control, and drop positions on trampoline. Specific skills must be mastered to progress to level two.
T&T Level 2 classes are 65 minutes long. Students start work on back handsprings on floor and somersaults on trampoline. The basic skills learned in Level 1 continue to be perfected and new skills are introduced.
T&T Level 3 classes are 80 minutes long. These students have already mastered back handsprings on floor and flips on the trampoline. Now students begin to really focus on power tumbling, and begin to learn more advanced trampoline routines. Students at this level are eligible for our T&T competitive program.

ACRO (acrobatic) tumbling classes are great for dancers and cheerleaders who want to improve their slow and fast tumbling skills. Slow tumbling, such as front walkovers and back walkovers, are great for increasing flexibility and are lead-up skills for fast tumbling such as back handsprings and front handsprings.
ACRO classes are for students in first grade and older, and are divided by ability, not by age. We start each class with 15 minutes of general fitness activities, which includes cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance activities, and flexibility. After this warm-up, athletes will learn and practice a variety of skills on various types of trampolines and the spring floor. The skills and equipment used will vary from week to week.
These classes are 60 minutes long. Most students attend class once or twice per week. This is a great class to take in addition to a Trampoline & Tumbling or gymnastics class. We do provide discounts for attending more than one class per week. Multiple children in one family also qualify for the multiple class discounts; please see our Prices & Policies Booklet Summer 2017 for details. For specific days and times please see our Trampoline & Tumbling Summer 2017.

This is for students age 5-15. Students can choose a concentrated workout time to work on skills they are learning in their class, or they may choose open play time (or a mix of both!). There will be no formal instruction during this time, however, instructors are present to help spot, make corrections, and ensure safety rules are being followed. Saturday Open Gym is $10 for currently enrolled students and $15 for non-students. This may be used as a make-up for missed classes as well. This does run most Saturdays but please consult our website calendar for closures. This is open to the public, so bring your friends!
All participants must have a signed Family Registration Form on file so if your child hasn’t previously attended a class or open gym at Airborne, please make sure a parent completes the waiver prior to the first time participating.
You can pre-register for the current week’s open gym through our Airborne Parent Portal. Pre-registration is closed at 8:30 AM every Saturday morning. You must agree to our policies online as well as put a credit card on file for payment. No refunds will be given for no-shows.
Do you think your child would enjoy a competitive program? We offer competitive Trampoline & Tumbling for students ages five and older. Acceptance into these programs are by invitation only, but if you or your student is interested in pursuing a position on one of our teams please speak to their instructor and let them know. They will help you determine if this would be a good fit for your child; and what your child will have to do to make it a possibility.
Please note: We have found from experience that it is a mistake to place a child in a competitive program which is too intense for their capabilities and true athletic interests. Consequently, we are very cautious about placing children in any of our competitive programs. For this reason, all team and pre-team programs are by invitation only.
