Our TumbleBee Programs are designed to create confident children by encouraging them to exceed their own expectations, develop kinesthetic awareness, maximize brain development for future self-efficacy (one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed), and academic success.  We do this by utilizing appropriate teaching methods and specially-adapted equipment to match the size and abilities of growing children.  We adapt our class learning environments as necessary to match your children’s advancing skills.

The loving and caring environment created by our qualified staff allows each child to feel secure and progress at his or her own pace.  Our progressive skill-levels help build your child’s confidence and physical skills while teaching them how to solve problems and manage fear in a safe enviroment.  Airborne’s TumbleBee Curriculum also incorporates fun phonics and counting activities to blend the executive functions of the brain with emotional and physical neural networks.

Our circuit method of instruction keeps our classes moving — nobody gets bored waiting — and allows each child to focus on his or her own activities while also learning valuable social skills.

TumbleBee Gymnastics classes have a different focus or theme each week.  These can range from safety rules and positions used in gymnastics to fun themes—like Beach week or SuperHero week.  The focus is introduced during warm-ups, utilized throughout the circuits and reviewed during closing.  Each class closes with our “Bye-Bye Song” and hand stamps.

Where does my child start? Your child should start in the class that corresponds to his or her current age- please see the class descriptions below.  Throughout the year, our teachers may advance students as they master fundamental skills at each level, always prioritizing safety and fun while getting to know each child’s learning style.  We train our teachers to customize the lessons to specifically target what motivates each girl and boy.

How does my child advance? Our teachers are trained to individualize the lesson plans to meet the needs of each individual student, so most students will be able to remain in the same class throughout the school year.  However, sometimes we recommend that a child move to a different class of the same level, or the next level of class, if the student is learning at a different pace than his/her peers.

TumbleBees Parent/Tot Gymnastics Class Descriptions: for Students Ages 8 weeks through 3-½ years

Our Parent/Tot gymnastics program is designed, first and foremost, to be a fun and safe learning experience for your child.  We also teach basic gymnastics movements paralleling the motor skill charts your pediatrician uses to assess normal development, incorporating many creative activities into the lesson plans.  Your child will stay happily engaged in the class, while getting the necessary repetitions to consolidate new neural pathways to help them get stronger, move faster, and solve problems using a variety of strategies!

Your role as a parent in these classes is to actively assist your child and the teacher.  Your attention will be focused on your child 100% of the time.  With our assistance, you will guide your child through gymnastics circuits, applaud their successes, and provide hands-on support- “spotting”- as necessary.

New this year- FreeBEES! Yes, this new class is absolutely free, for children ages 8 weeks through 12 months of age.  Classes are 30 minutes long.  We will start with a circle-time song, and move into some fantastic movement experiences for you and your child!  Studies have shown that both music and movement enhance brain development.

ToddlerBees: for toddlers ages 1 year—2 ½ years.  In this class, we work primarily on gross motor skill development and playground readiness: running, jumping, climbing, hopping, skipping, swinging, crawling, and rolling.  These skills improve strength and coordination as well as kinesthetic awareness and overall confidence.  Socially, the students learn to participate in group activities and try new skills.

This class starts with 15 minutes of exploration time with a teacher, followed by circle time and a fun gymnastics circuit!  Please Note: Saturday classes will follow the HoneyBee format, due to space restrictions.

HoneyBee and Me: for ages 2 ½ – 3½ years.  In addition to gross motor skills and playground readiness activities, our HoneyBees start working on more gymnastics skills, such as handstands, cartwheels, and forward/ backward rolls.  Socially, these students will learn to participate in a group warm-up, interact with instructors, wait for their turn, share equipment, and follow directions like “stop” and “go” in a fun environment.

These classes start with circle time warm-up, followed by three event circuits that will vary from week to week.  Events may include trampolines, vaulting, bars, balance beams, floor, trapeze, and rope.

TumbleBee Gymnastics Class Descriptions:  for Students Ages 3-½ years through Kindergarten

BusyBee classes are for children ages 3½ and older who are not yet attending Kindergarten.  BusyBees work on basic gymnastics skills, such as handstands, cartwheels, rolls on floor, and basic swing/ strength moves on bars. Class warm-ups are 10 minutes long, followed by three different event circuits each week.  Class circuits change from week to week, and may include trampoline, balance beam, floor, bars, vault, rope, and trapeze.  Each event circuit consists of 4-6 stations where the BusyBees will work on a variety of skills.

Socially, BusyBee students learn to participate in group warm-ups, interact with instructors, and share equipment with peers.  BusyBees are also learning to wait for their turn in circuits and follow simple instructions.  As the school year progresses, these students will begin learning about team work, doing activities in pairs and groups.  The social skills gained in BusyBees classes help to prepare these students for Kindergarten.

KinderBees classes are for children ages 5 to 6 who are currently enrolled in Kindergarten.  Through the school year, these classes will transform from “little kids” classes to “big kids” classes.  During the course of the year, we will begin changing warm-ups and removing props and visual aids as the students get closer to joining GymStar classes.  KinderBees class warm-ups are 15 minutes long, focusing on proper stretching techniques and focus skills for the week.  Warm-ups are followed by three or four event rotations.  During these sessions, KinderBees will learn more gymnastics skills and also continue building strength and improving flexibility.

WorkerBees is an accelerated class for students who are moving along quickly in KinderBees classes.  Specific skill and behavior requirements must be met; please speak with your child’s teacher for more details.

DanceNastics classes are dance and gymnastics combination classes, which will sample both our TumbleBee and DanceBuilder curriculums.  Please see the appropriate schedule for more information and class times.

Where does my child go from here?

After students complete Kindergarten, they automatically move into our GymStars or Trampoline & Tumbling programs.  These classes are geared toward students in first grade and older.

Students with a lot of gymnastics experience and specific skills may be invited into our accelerated program, WorkerBees.  We also have Top Guns (pre-team) program for girls ages 5 and older who are interested in competitive gymnastics.  Top Guns classes are by invitation only.

TumbleBee Open Gym: is unstructured playtime for children ages walking through eight years of age.  Students can explore our equipment and practice whatever skills they wish.  Parents must accompany students under three years of age.  The charge for members is $10 (ask about family discounts.)

Make-Ups:  We prefer our students to attend their regularly scheduled class, but we do allow one make-up per month.  If you know in advance that you will be missing a class due to vacations or conflicting school functions you may do your makeup in advance.  All make-ups must be completed within one month of the missed class and MUST BE SCHEDULED through our office in advance.  You may also use TumbleBee open gym as a make-up.  We do not pro-rate or give credit for missed classes.

Dress Code: Girls should wear a one-piece leotard; boys should wear snug fitting shorts and a T-shirt.  Please, no jeans or jean shorts, no footed tights, no jewelry.  Hair must be secured away from the face.  We will supply rubber bands to children who forget to pull their hair back.  If your child’s hair can interfere with his or her vision, it needs to be pulled back.
